Miguel and Maria Espinoza

Miguel and Maria Espinoza live onsite and are responsible for much of the care and maintenance of our facility and horses. Miguel has a tremendous background with horses. During the 1980's Miguel worked for the prestigious Sutton Place and Linda Hough. He was also responsible for leading current Olympian Lauren Hough around on her first pony. He cared for such champions as the famous hunters Bavaria and Rave Review. Miguel later worked for S & L Farms in New York before coming to Lightacres in 1995.

Miguel's knowledge of horses is expansive, from handling babies to medicating and bandaging. He also loves tractor work and keeps our footing in super shape. Maria Espinoza oversees the feeding program and personally prepares each horses supplements. Helping Miguel each day is Rafael & Juan C.Leon, personally trained by Miguel. Recently Miguel's son, Miguel Espinoza Jr. , has rejoined our staff at Lightacres. Miguel Jr, trained of course by his dad, is a first rate horseman and we are so glad to have him.
